As a Bangladeshi manufacturer we have a serious commitment to our environment. Every product we design and manufacture, each process within our factory, every packaging and delivery decision we make to customers is done with our environment policies front of mind. From our world-class manufacturing facility in Bogura we design, produce and distribute products to customers throughout Bangladesh, and to targeted customers worldwide. With all of our products made in Bangladesh rather than overseas, not only can we assure our customers of a high quality product, we make considerable reductions in our carbon emissions – one of the ten most harmful greenhouse gases.

Here at Pa-Wang Ceramic Industry Ltd we have a rich supply of raw materials from our world renowned suppliers. Each material is carefully sourced and transported with minimum environmental impact.

A NEGATIVE WASTE FOOTPRINT

Waste and landfill are two major considerations for manufacturers. Throughout the business we are committed to minimising waste, constantly recycling raw materials such as ceramic waste, water and cardboard.

IT’S NOT JUST CERAMIC WASTE WE RECYCLE

Rainwater and all process water from the manufacturing process is captured and recycled within the factory making every drop count. All of our packaging materials are 100% recycled. Every pallet has been previously used or repaired, while the cardboard for our boxes and packaging has 100% recycled content. Metal, wood, paper and plastic are also recycled within the factory

Carbon emissions are a cause of climate change and as a Bangladeshi manufacturer it is essential that we reduce our CO₂ emissions. As such we’ve heavily invested in the most advanced green energy machinery in our factory.

Simple measures such as car sharing, reducing the way we consume energy in the offices, recycling and investing in energy efficient technology that supports the running of both sites keep us on target to reduce our consumption and emissions over the coming years.

Our ceramic waste is ground down and added to standard ceramic materials to make our tile body. This figure ensures the high standards and quality of our finished product.

CERAMIC VS. PORCELAIN TILES

Although they belong to the same family, porcelain and ceramic tiles are more like cousins than twins. Some people will use the terms ‘porcelain’ and ‘ceramic’ tiles interchangeably, but there are a few differences. This means one might be a little more advantageous for your project. Just something to keep in mind. Depending on how you plan to use your space, porcelain or ceramic tiles may suit you better. Here’s how they differ and where they’re best used.

A QUICK COMPARISON

The main difference between a porcelain and ceramic tile is the rate of water they absorb. Porcelain tiles absorb less than 0.5% of water whilst ceramic and other non-porcelain tiles will absorb more. This is down to the stuff used to make porcelain tiles. The clay is denser and so less porous. It effects how the tiles behave, and what they’re best used for.

CONSTRUCTION

How are ceramic tiles made?

Ceramic tiles are made using natural red, brown or white clay. Firstly the clay is fired at a high temperature to reduce the water content, the glaze followed by the pattern is then applied.

How are porcelain tiles made?

Porcelain tiles are made using very specific clay, with finely-ground sand and feldspar added to the mixture. The tiles are fired at a higher temperature than ceramic, this helps to make porcelain tiles super hardwearing.

DENSITY DURABILITY

Porcelain tiles are denser than ceramic, and therefore less porous. Meaning they’re harder, therefore more durable and absorb less water. This makes them more suited to high footfall areas which will see heavy use.

High foot traffic

The durability of porcelain tiles make them perfect for high traffic areas as they’re resistant to scratches and scuffs. Whether in an area of the home that sees high footfall, such as the hallway or kitchen, or in a commercial space, porcelain is the most hardwearing.

Your patio or outdoor space

Porcelain’s level of water resistance means it’s perfectly placed to weather everything that nature has to throw at your new patio. In cold weather, ceramic may crack, meaning you’ll be needing a replacement floor much sooner than you’d like. In this case porcelain will offer you peace of mind.

WHY TILES?

Tiles are both practical and popular. They are typically known for being hard wearing, long lasting and easy to maintain. Tiles can withstand wear and tear from the likes of muddy wellies and dirty paw prints to everyday spills and stains, and with a wide variety of designs shapes and finishes on the market today, there is a tile to suit everybody’s needs.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CERAMIC AND PORCELAIN?

Ceramic tiles are usually produced from red or white clay, finished with a glaze and fired in a kiln. They are suitable for both walls and floors in light to moderate traffic areas. Porcelain tiles are produced from porcelain clays and are usually a lot denser than a regular ceramic tile. These tiles are suitable for all residential and some commercial areas where there is high traffic. ‘Full bodied’ or ‘Through’ porcelains contain the colour or pattern all the way through the tile whereas glazed tiles have a sprayed or dipped glaze mixture added which is then fired onto the surface. This is why porcelain tiles are more suitable for high-wear commercial environments.

WHAT IS MEANT BY INKJET/HD TECHNOLOGY?

These are tiles which have been produced using the latest High Definition technology printers. This gives them the true likeness of natural stone without the sealing and maintenance requirements, at a fraction of the price.

DO I NEED TO SEAL MY TILES?

Generally, ceramic tiles do not need to be sealed. Unglazed tiles including porcelain and natural stone should always be sealed. Stone especially is naturally porous, so will absorb spills and stains easily. Due to its porosity, we would recommend that you seal your grout however this is not a necessity. If you are in doubt as to whether your tiles or grout have been sealed, test the tile with a small amount of water. If the surface darkens, this may mean that it is absorbing the water which means it needs to be sealed.

HOW DO I CLEAN/MAINTAIN MY TILES?

Providing that they have been applied and sealed properly, tiles generally need little maintenance. Warm water with a non-abrasive detergent should be sufficient for the cleaning of your tiles. For this, we recommend that you use Fila Cleaner.

HOW LONG WILL MY TILES LAST?

Some tiles such as Porcelain are harder wearing than others, however providing that your tiles are fitted and maintained in the correct way, they should last a lifetime.
